Acherontas, a leading force in the New Wave of Greek Black Metal, is driven by mysticism, magic, occult arts, and rituals. These elements shape the band's unique image, sound, and lyrics. Influenced by the original Hellenic metal scene, retro 70s rock, and eastern philosophy, Acherontas was founded in 1996 by V. Priest. The band adheres to its principles as a 'Magical Coven, dedicated to the Ancient Summerian Mysteries of Drakonian Blood'. They believe many traditions like Astral Vampirism, Hermeticism, and others stem from ancient sources. V. Priest says true sorcery is a science. 'Psychic Death - The Shattering Of Perceptions' was recorded in Greece, Germany, and the UK at the band's 'Coven’s Corridors of Wilderness' studios.
