Junius The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist 2x12

Details

JUNIUS is thrilled to share that Pelagic Records will release the 10-year anniversary re-issue of their highly praised album, 'The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist'. For this special re-issue, the album was remixed by Tom Syrowski, who also worked on Mastodon's Grammy-winning 'The Emperor of Sand' with Brendon O’Brian, and remastered by Billy Bowers, known for his work with Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam, and Mastodon. The album's artwork has been redesigned by Drew Speziale of Circle takes the Square and Junius' own Joseph E. Martinez, following Drew's original design concept. In the fall of 2009, Junius released 'The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist' to widespread critical acclaim. Rolling Stone described it as 'a perfect blend of Neurosis and the Smiths, achieving a remarkable balance of brutality and beauty. It's spellbinding and heartbreaking, captivating from start to finish'. The recording process was as epic as the music. Starting in 2006, the band had month-long writing sessions in unique places like a California bank vault, a Texas warehouse, a Vermont farmhouse, and a Louisiana swamp shack. The result was a concept album inspired by the life and theories of Immanuel Velikovsky. Quotes from Velikovsky's interviews and lectures are woven between the songs, adding to the story. Recorded at the historic Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA, and produced by Junius, Kevin Mills, and Tom Syrowski, the recording was a chaotic yet rewarding experience. Due to a recent lineup change, Joel Munguia and Mike Repasch-Nieves have been replaced by Orion Wainer and Drew Speziale, and Ben Graham has joined, making Junius a 5-piece band for the first time. If COVID-19 allows, Junius will co-headline a US festival later this year, but currently, they're focused on writing their fourth LP.

To enjoy this album, simply play it on your preferred music player, be it a CD player, a streaming service, or a digital audio device. Let the unique blend of sounds wash over you and take you on a journey through the life and theories of Immanuel Velikovsky. There aren't any specific usage restrictions, but make sure your audio equipment is in good working condition for the best experience. If you're using a physical CD, handle it carefully to avoid scratches. Store it in a cool, dry place to prevent damage. As for the digital versions, keep your devices updated to ensure smooth playback. Enjoy this masterpiece from Junius and let the music inspire you.
