Portland, Oregon's Across The Sun has been making music and touring for over seven years since 2004. They've released three EPs: 'This War' in 2006, 'Storms Weathered' in 2008, and the well - received 'Pestilence & Rapture' in 2009 via Authentik Ink. In 2010, they did multiple US tours, like the Loch Ness Monstour with No Bragging Rights and a tour supporting Throw The Fight. Their hard work led to a deal with Metal Blade Records. After this big step, Brandon Davis, Shane 'The Brain' Murray, Sam Hafer, Alan Ashcraft, and John Malloy went to Lambesis Studios with producer/engineer Daniel Castleman. The outcome is their first full - length album, 'Before The Night Takes Us'. This album is the result of seven years of recording, touring, and perfecting their sound. Daniel Castleman set high standards in the studio. Brandon Davis said it was a great learning experience. The individual performances are better than before. Guitarist Sam Hafer says this record expands on what Across the Sun was. The musicianship, tones, dynamics, and song structure are all taken to new levels. The album has a big sound, with Davis' clean vocals, Hafer's guitar solos, and Murray's keys being truly captivating. Lyrically, the album is about facing one's inner demons and moving forward. The cover art shows a person leaving a dark past for a brighter future. Brandon Davis uses his own experiences to write honest and heartfelt lyrics. It's Metal Blade Records item #149832.
