Details
Led by the talented guitarist and vocalist Joe Stumer, LEVIATHEN formed in Bath, PA around 1986. After releasing a few thrash - influenced heavy metal demos and some lineup changes, the group evolved into a power trio, with Jay Bybee on bass and vocals and Jim Vacca on drums and vocals. After making appearances on underground compilations like Metal Disorder in 1989 and Music to Make Your Ears Hurt in 1990, LEVIATHEN entered Skylab Studios in Princeton, NJ in 1991. There, they recorded their most polished work to date, both musically and visually, the Tales in Power cassette. With Tales in Power, LEVIATHEN showed off the technical riffs and raw aggression typical of a true thrash band. However, the trio drew from a wide variety of musical influences, exploring lots of melody, frequent tempo changes, and all three members contributing vocals. This led to a truly unique take on the genre that developed over the group's decade - long career. More than 30 years later, Divebomb Records is thrilled to present Tales in Power on CD for the first time. The CD comes with four bonus demo tracks from 1987. Newly remastered by Jamie King Audio, it's packaged with a 16 - page booklet filled with lyrics, photos, memorabilia, and the first part of a three - part interview with Joe Stumer. Made for the fans, by the fans!
