After a tough journey full of turmoil and loss, Madder Mortem has finally released their 8th studio album, 'Old Eyes, New Heart'. It comes five years after 'Marrow'. The period during which this album was created was difficult for the band. In the winter of 2023, Agnete and BP’s father, Jakob, passed away. Jakob was a great supporter of the band and played a key role in starting their recording career almost 30 years ago. As an artist himself, Jakob prepared two paintings for the album. With the adaptation and extra design by long - term collaborator Costin Chioreanu, the album cover was completed. Even though Jakob didn't see the finished album, he would have been very proud to see his art on it, and the album is dedicated to his memory. Lyrically and musically, the album explores hope, disappointment, and the mixed feelings between them. It combines the wisdom of old hearts and deep roots with a new perspective on the endless possibilities of 12 notes, always aiming to create good, honest songs.
