Details
Jordsjø, a dynamic duo hailing from Oslo, Norway, takes musical inspiration from Olivier Messiaen, German Popol Vuh, and Anthony Braxton. Their sound is a blend of Scandinavian folklore, jazz, and early British prog, following in the footsteps of last century's top Nordic rock bands. 'Salighet' is their fourth proper studio album, featuring seven new tracks that make it one of 2023's greatest prog albums. In this album, Jordsjø continues their musical odyssey, exploring various forms of ecstasy through compositions and lyrics. Whether it's the rhythm of dance, the thrill of a mountain hike, the magic of a fairytale, the depth of religious contemplation, or other inner journeys, all are captured in a vivid symphonic folk - rock sound. The music serves as a contrast to ordinary daily life, yearning for mystery and alternate realities. With grand dynamics and drama, it always searches for a captivating melody. Drawing on Nordic jazz, folk music, 1900s classical music, and the sensory - expanding rock of the 60s and 70s, the album creates its own unique and unpretentious musical blend. The band comprises multi - instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (from Tusmørke, Black Magic, The Chronicles of Father Robin) and drummer Kristian Frøland.
