I've passed by many times on my way to Isaac's (Delahaye, our ex - guitar player) for wild drinking sessions in Ypres, near the French border. This town is deeply infused with the spirit of World War I. The countless cemeteries and the Menin Gate, with its daily last post ceremony since 1929 (except one day during a WWII bombardment), are truly remarkable. The restored buildings are often filled with English, Irish, and Scottish visitors on weekends, perhaps because a relative perished there. At night in the bars and pubs, people get drunk and sing loudly. Inspired by these scenes and the Great War, I decided to create a concept album. Ypres and Passendale were the war's epicenter with about 900,000 casualties, a significant part of the global 9 million.
