It's a bit tricky to determine where IMPLORE actually hails from. Currently, most band members reside in Hamburg. However, lead vocalist and bass player Gabriel Dubko was born in Argentina and has lived in Barcelona, LA, and Hamburg. It was at the train station in Hamburg that he met guitarist Daniel after a gig at the legendary Rote Flora squat, and this chance encounter led to the birth of IMPLORE. A few weeks later, Christian Bass of Heaven Shall Burn joined the band as a drummer, forming the initial three - piece lineup. Due to his commitments to HSB, Bass couldn't record IMPLORE's first EP 'Black Knell'. So, Dubko brought in Kevin Talley of Suffocation to handle the drums, and he was an excellent substitute. 'Black Knell', released on July 4th, 2014, was highly praised in the grindcore and crust scene, instantly opening up numerous touring opportunities for the band. Remarkably, a European tour with Californian power - violence band ACxDC was booked even before IMPLORE had played a single show. The band proved themselves on stage during this first tour, opening for Nails and performing at festivals like Obscene Extreme & Fluff. With more tours following and Michael Pfeffer joining as a permanent live drummer, IMPLORE finally had a stable lineup. 'Depopulation' is the debut album of this young band that has toured Europe, the US, and even Mexico in less than two years. Dubko remembers, 'I've never seen such a dedicated and enthusiastic audience as in Monterey. We were treated like metal gods.' The album was recorded at Earthship's Jan Oberg's Hidden Planet studios in Berlin, with Christian Bass from Heaven Shall Burn behind the drums again. Spanning 16 tracks in just under 30 minutes, 'Depopulation' offers all the elements of a great grindcore album: rough riffs, super - fast blast beats, harsh and energetic vocals, and that beloved Swedish guitar tone.
