Details
Jordsjø, a dynamic duo hailing from Oslo, Norway, draws inspiration from old horror flicks, 70s German synth music, Swedish prog, fantasy novels, and the enchanting Norwegian nature. After releasing three cassette demos, their album 'Jord' marked their first significant release. Before that, they only sold homemade tapes to friends and dedicated collectors. 'Jord' reached a wider audience, even beyond Norway. However, the band was dissatisfied with the initial mix, which was rushed for a tape release. So, they decided to remix it from the ground - up and include other songs recorded the same weekend in the summer of 2016, giving birth to the 'Jord Sessions'. There's a new organ track in 'Abstraksjoner..' and added bells and percussion in 'Valinors Lamper', while the rest of the tracks stay true to the original. 'Jord Sessions' explores themes of alienation, roots, and dreams. It has an organic and dynamic sound reminiscent of 70s prog, with hints of electronic and folk music. Flutes, guitars, and a variety of vintage synths give the album a warm, vintage feel yet still sound fresh and engaging. The band is composed of multi - instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (Tusmørke, Black Magic) and drummer Kristian Frøland. This officially licensed Jordsjø CD comes in a jewel case and includes a bonus track, 'Nattfiolens Suite'.
