Karl Beckman says that after over a year of intense writing, they've finalized the album. The word 'Karg', meaning 'Barren' in English, sets the tone for the entire album. It's darker, harsher, and more minimalist than their previous works, showing greater maturity and precision. Lyrically, it draws on old legends from their home region, paying tribute to their countryside. The album was recorded and mixed at Sonic Train Studios, with Andy LaRocque in charge and Olof Berggren assisting. During recording, 'Karg' served as a guiding concept.
