Details
Led by guitarist and vocalist Joe Stumer, LEVIATHEN formed in Bath, PA around 1986. After nearly a decade of hard work, the 1995 lineup was rounded out by Chris Dinan on bass and backing vocals, and Brian Riffle on drums. 'The Aggression Returns' features eight tracks and an AC/DC cover, offering over 35 minutes of a rawer, more in - your - face thrash metal sound, similar to their style in 'Onward Thru the Fog'.
This edgy tone came from Stumer's annoyance at the industry's failure to recognize LEVIATHEN's unique approach. After a final lineup change that brought drummer Tony Dalmas, the band changed their name to Skumbags and recorded 'Sodomizing the Industry' in 1996. This album with eight songs in almost half an hour represents 10 years of DIY efforts that didn't get the attention they deserved, as the genre was changing.
Despite the changing trends, LEVIATHEN refused to follow the groove or grunge styles. As a result, two full - length albums were almost forgotten. Now, over 25 years later, Divebomb Records is excited to release the final recordings of LEVIATHEN / SKUMBAGS on CD for the first time. Remastered by Jamie King Audio, the CD comes with a 20 - page booklet filled with lyrics, photos, memorabilia, and the final part of a three - part interview with Joe Stumer. It's a must - have for fans!
