Details
Jordsjø, a talented duo hailing from Oslo, Norway, draws inspiration from old horror movies, 70s German synth music, Swedish prog, fantasy novels, and the beautiful Norwegian nature. After releasing three cassette demos, their album “Jord” marked their first major work. Prior to this, they only sold homemade tapes to friends and a small group of dedicated collectors. But “Jord” reached a wider audience, even outside Norway. The band was never satisfied with the original mix, which was quickly done for a tape release. So, they decided to start afresh with a new mix and include other songs recorded the same weekend in the Summer of 2016, giving birth to the «Jord Sessions». There's a new organ track on «Abstraksjoner..» and some bells and percussion on «Valinors Lamper», while the rest of the tracks stay true to the original.
Jord Sessions has an underlying theme of alienation, roots, and dreams. It features an organic and dynamic sound that brings to mind 70s prog, with hints of electronic music and folk. With plenty of flute, guitars, and a wide range of vintage synths, the album has a warm, vintage feel yet still sounds fresh and engaging.
The band is composed of multi - instrumentalist Håkon Oftung (from Tusmørke, Black Magic) and drummer Kristian Frøland.
