In just five years, the dynamic and destructive duo from Northern Germany, MANTAR, have taken the world by storm. They've embarked on global tours and crafted an impressive discography, including three studio albums, a live record, and an EP. With no intention of calming down, they've decided to delve into their musical roots and create a DIY covers album, paying homage to their biggest 90s influences.
Although MANTAR has often been labeled within the 'metal' scene, the musical upbringing of both members was firmly rooted in a different world in the early 90s. This was the era of noise rock, Riot Grrrl bands, and what MTV marketed as 'grunge' or 'alternative rock'. These sounds resonated deeply with two young, cool kids in post - Cold War Germany.
As teenagers, they were immediately drawn to the aggression, powerful messages, and uncompromising stances of bands like Babes In Toyland, 7 Year Bitch, L7, Sonic Youth, The Jesus Lizard, Mudhoney, and Mazzy Star. Even back then, terms like 'grunge', 'punk', or 'heavy metal' seemed rather silly. Thus, the fitting title 'Grungetown Hooligans II' was chosen to honor the era and artists that inspired MANTAR to become one of the most sonically powerful and destructive musical acts today.

To enjoy this album, simply play it on your preferred music - playing device, like a CD player, music app on your phone, or a streaming service. You can listen to it at home while relaxing, during a workout, or even on a long drive. There aren't really any specific rules on how to listen, just let the music take you back to the 90s. As for maintenance, if you have a physical copy, keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent damage. For digital copies, make sure your device's storage is secure and regularly backed up to avoid any data loss. Have fun exploring the 90s grunge vibes!
